Bob Marley would be labeled a Terrorist if songs were actions.

Did you know that the African National Congress (ANC) was once labeled a terrorist organization by the United States?  The ANC was a group formed to fight apartheid in South Africa and was once lead by Nelson Mandela.  Nelson Mandela was arrested and sentenced to life in prison by the South African apartheid regime.  In 1986, Dick Cheney Cheney, along with 145 Republicans and 31 Democrats voted against a resolution to release Nelson Mandela from prison. Of course we know that after 27 years in prison, Nelson Mandela was freed and went on to become the president of South Africa.

Knowing that, imagine if Bob Marley not only fought injustice through his music but also did so through is actions.  Imagine songs like Zimbabwe where he sings “arm in arm with arms”?  Imagine if he really shot the sheriff or the police, or if he really burn and loot or even burn down Babylon. What if he didn’t just sings, “I feel like bombing a church” but did indeed bomb a church?

What I am getting at is, one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter and vice verse.  For the Africans suffering under the evil regime of apartheid, Mandela and the ANC were freedom fighter.  To the whites in South Africa and those in the western world, Mandela was a terrorist.  Even Martin Luther King, the prince of priest was labeled a troublemaker by the United States.

So my question are:  What are the characteristics of a terrorist and how do we differentiate between a terrorist and a freedom fighter?  Was Mandela really a terrorist?  Was Bob Marley a musical terrorist?
