Christians Angry at Obama for calling out the evil done in the name of Jesus Christ.

Christians are quick to say that, “he is the truth and the way”. However, when it comes to telling a Christian the truth, they are not always ready to listen. At least not in a civilize manner.

The right wing Christian movement is up in arms over president Obama’s speech at the Prayer Breakfast yesterday. Obama reminded Christians that while they are eager to paint Muslims with a broad brush for the evil being committed by Islamist extremists, Christians should not forget about the equally evil deeds committed by Christians in the name of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Jesus Christ. In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.” Obama said.

Right wing Republicans have come out of the woodwork to attack Obama for his comment. One such Republican is presidential hopeful Rick Santorum who says Obama’s statement was “insulting to every person of faith.”

“Today’s remarks by the President were inappropriate and his choice of venue was insulting to every person of faith at a time when Christians are being crucified, beheaded, and persecuted across the Middle East,” the Republican presidential hopeful said.”

For a Christian to deny the evil done by Christians in the name of Christ is actually worse than the denial of the holocaust. It is as if Christians don’t think slavery was evil. Maybe they still believe slavery can be justified by the “Holy” bible. Jim Crow was not too long ago, that too must be deemed right in the book of the Christians. What about Christian denominations like the Mormons who preach that “Black people had no souls”?

The point Obama was trying to make and I think it is a great point is, you can’t use the actions of Muslim extremists to judge all Muslims. The same way I would not use the actions of the KKK to judge all Christians. I would not even let the words of a malicious right wing repugnant republican like Rush Limbaugh affect the way I look at Christians.

No one is perfect. No group or organization is perfect. Christians, if you are going to use a broad brush to pain your Muslim brothers then be prepared to be painted with a broad brush also.
