Vybz Kartel and Corey Todd, the once business partners are sitting on opposite sides of the freedom spectrum. Kartel is on the inside of prison hoping to come out soon, while Corey Todd is on the outside hoping not to go in anytime soon.
For both men to achieve their goals, they will both have a day in court in the near future. Vybz Kartel is looking forward to appeal his murder charges and hoping to have his conviction overturned. Todd on the other hand is hoping that he will not be convicted when he stands in from of a judge.
According to Vybz Kartel’s attorney, Tavares-Finson, Kartel appeal will most likely be sometime this year.
“The transcripts have been reviewed and are just about ready. So it is possible that an appeal is likely later this year” Tavares-Finson said.
Corey Todd, however, will not get his day in court until January 25, 2017. Todd’s recent court date was postponed because he was off the island, according to his attorney, Peter Champagnie.
“Todd is overseas on the basis that his mother is not well. He is the primary caregiver,” said the attorney.
Todd is facing charges of malicious destruction of property and assault occasioning bodily harm.
Allegations are that in January, Devin Di Dakta was taken from the nightclub into the parking lot by several members of Todd’s security team and beaten.
So that’s where it stands for the two former business partners. Vybz Kartel is hoping to be where Corey Todd and Tod are hoping not to go where Kartel is. Both men destinies are dependent on their court dates and only time will tell. And so it goes, and so it goes.
