Reggae Legend Edi Fitzroy has died.

The great reggae veteran, Edi Fitzroy, has died. 18 Karat Reggae has confirmed that Edi Fitzroy died in a Jamaican hospital on Saturday at the age of 62.

The artist whose real name is Fitzroy Edwards was born in Clarendon, Jamaican in 1955.

The singer is known for classic the classic “Princes Black” which was covered by the king of reggae, Sizzla Kalonji. He also did other classics like “Informer” and did a magnificent job covering The Eagles “Hotel California”.

Edi attended the West Indies Commercial Institute to study accounting and later worked at the Jamaica Broadcasting Company (JBC), he left to pursue music full-time.

After learning of the death, the Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange said Edwards will be remembered for his very distinctive style.
