Why do Christians eat pork? Isn’t it a sin to do so?

Pork
Pork

The following is a response to the post: 13 Reasons you should not eat pork.

I am a born again Christian. My husband has been a minister of the Gospel for 43 years. I believe the missing part in this puzzle is the fact that in the Old Testament, people did not go to God for themselves, but a priest would go into the temple after being thoroughly cleansed, and offer up sacrifice for thee sins of the people.

I agree that in the Book of Leviticus as well as in Deuteronomy we are taught not to eat particular animals that were considered unclean. However, if you apply one section of the law then you must apply ALL of the law to your everyday life. Now…In John 2:10 we are taught that if we break one portion of the law we are guilty of breaking all of it.

So, who among us can say we live without breaking any of the laws set forth in the Old Testament? If you apply the portion teaching not to eat pork, then do you also take your disobedient son to the edge of the city and stone him to death? Do you eat shrimp or other sea food with a shell? Do you women offer up sacrifice at the end of each menstrual cycle? And do you men cleanse yourselves after the woman’s menstrual cycle if you have touched anything she wore during those days, or even a chair she may have sat on?

In Matthew 5:17 Jesus said, “Do not think I have come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the Prophets.I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”

Praise God, for those of us who have accepted Christ as our personal Savior we are no longer bound to the law of the Old Testament but are set free to live by Grace, through the shedding of His blood! God Bless!
