Reggae star Jah Cure has a lot to be happy for right now. The singer‘s sister who is locked up on federal cocaine charges in the United States will be freed later on this year.

In December of 2016, Mckadia Alcock was arrested at the Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale Florida. She was charge for cocaine smuggling and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

She was briefly held at the Broward County Jail before being released to the custody of the United States Marshals. The Marshals now have September 17, 2018 as the official release date for Miss Alcock.

Although Miss Alcock face similar charges as reggae great Buju Banton, she is only doing two years, whereas Buju Banton was sentenced to ten years. More than likely, Miss Alcock took a plea deal whereas Buju Banton rejected to do the same.

This is great news for the reggae community is that both the sister of Jah Cure and Buju Banton will be freed this year. Banton will have to wait 3 months after Miss Alcock’s release before he is freed. He has been in lock up since 2009.

For those of you who have seen the latest video of Jah Cure (above) boasting of his riches, he might not be talking about material gains. The reggae crooner might just be joyous over his sister’s upcoming freedom as he too realizes that life and freedom is worth much more than silver and gold.
