The concept of God is a human construct of man in search of answers to many things such as the origins and meaning of life and the goodness and evil of mankind. Religions have always been used as a cultural tool in this quest and different Religions have moved the bar in different directions.
The most recent religions like Christianity and Islam draws from each other and so does Rastafari draws from Christianity by using their book /Bible that was not meant to liberate the slaves. The whole idea of turning a poor man into a GOD and not seeing God in everyone is flawed,
When we use individuals make into Gods just to own that particular brand of God whether its Allah, Jesus or Haile Selassie its just as ludicrous. Just as how Christianity was Hijacked by Rome and used manipulate and control its subjects. i applaud the audacity of the suffering sons and daughters of the slaves that went through Christian Colonial slavery to rebel and design a Faith for themselves as they know that the slave masters religion cannot fully liberate the slaves as the justification of Slavery was placed it in the bible as a desirable thing ordained by God.
Brother Bob Marley though raised a Christian articulated his disgust with Christianity in a few of his songs such as “Preacher man don’t tell me heaven is under the earth ..Wi Sick an tired of the ism skism die and go to heaven inna JESUS name we know and we understand almighty God is living man .. BM talking blues ” yes Bob was baptized by the Ethiopian Orthodox church which is Christian ,, but just as how the character of JESUS himself was not a Christian but the story of a man called Jesus was used to create a religion called Christianity over 100 years after he was killed by the same people who killed him. we still have to recognition the goodness of the personalities of a Jesus and a Haile Selassie the first but not use it to beat other people over the head to tell them that Almighty God is a dead man. If GOD is LOVE, then we all have the ability to manifest LOVE and be GOD. Just as we are being taught about serving some men who was turned into God by some other men……..Blessed LOVE

You had to be around in the 70’s to truly understand what the 12 Tribes greeting meant, and why so many of our Christian parents were not going to just sit by and let us become Rasta. In its simplest meaning the greeting ascribes the status of divinity to Haile Selassie. For the more strident believers he was Christ reincarnate, the Lamb, the Seventh Seal…
Why try to reinvent history? Bob was born a Christian, and he died a Christian. In the middle, he believed, like most Rastas did, especially before Abuna came to Jamaica, that Ras Tafari Makennon was the creator of the Universe. At the end of the day, one man’s mythology is another man’s religion!!!
