Since it was founded in 1974, High Times magazine has never changed hands. All that is about to change as Damian Marley, the son if the king of reggae, Bob Marley, has bought the world’s most famous marijuana publication.
Damian did not go at the purchase alone, rather he is one of 20 investors led by Adam Levin who now controls the company.
The magazine is well known for its events, like The Cannabis Cup, of which the 2015 staging too place in Jamaica.
This is not the Marley’s first investment into marijuana as most of the Marley boys have started their own marijuana companies which are different than Marley Naturals which is licensed by the entire Marley estate.
The new company will be called High Times Holding Company. The new ownership will focus on expanding the magazine’s reach while developing new revenue streams as it capitalises on licensing and events. The new owners said in a statement that they plan to expand collaborations in locations around the world to create more events and bring a new scale to sponsorship opportunities.
High Times was founded in 1974 and has a strong circulation of 236,000 monthly subscribers.
