There is a saying that girls can’t do what guys do and still be a lady. Whoever came up with that saying must have forgotten to send the memo to Spice. The female artist is doing her thing and has done what no othe dancehall or reggae female star has done in over 8 years. Spice is the first female to be nominated for a MOBO award since songbird Etana was nominated back in 2008.

Nomination is just half of the battle. If spice wants to bring home the award she will have to beat out her male counterparts Alkaline, Popcaan, Kranium, and Protoje.

Going up against males in a male dominated field is nothing new for Spice. Years ago she hurt Beenie Man’s feelings so bad with her lyrics he had to send his entourage to get physical with her; and who can forget how well she handled herself against Wiz Khalifa at the recent culture clash.

With Alkaline and Popcaan belting out hits after hits, it might be difficult for Spice to win but we at 18 Karat Reggae are surely cheering for her. Go Spice go!
