Ganja might be known as GanJayz from now on as rapper Jay Z plans to stamp his name on the marijuana industry.
Celebrities have long dabbled in the marijuana business; from Snoop Dogg, to Willie Nelson, to every one of Bob Marley’s sons with the exception of Ziggy and even the late king of reggae himself. What separates Jay Z from the aforementioned is that they all actually smoke marijuana but Jay Z does not. Another differentiator is that none of them are as successful at business as Jay. So no one will be surprise if the man that rapped that “I am not a businessman, I am a business man” turns out to be the king of the weed.
The mogul is slated to launch his own cannabis line called Monogram. He made the announcement on Friday, where he also gave fans insight about the line.
According to Monogram’s website, Monogram will “redefine what cannabis means to consumers today through careful strain selection, meticulous cultivation practices, and uncompromising quality.”
Last year, Jay partnered with Caliva, a California-based cannabis company as their Chief Brand Officer, where the idea for Monogram came from. At the moment, it is unclear whether the product will be available in dispensaries across the nation or only in California.
However, the press release states that the brand will be released through an e-commerce platform dedicated only to that brand.
