So a few rappers have decided to go on an all out twitter war. This all stems from Kendrick Lamar’s interview with billboard magazine when the rapper states that: “What happened to Michael Brown should’ve never happened. Never. But when we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don’t start with just a rally, don’t start from looting, it starts from within.”
This did not sit too well with the fiery Azealia Banks who responded, “”When we don’t respect ourselves how can we expect them to respect us” dumbest shit I’ve ever heard a black man say”.
Kid Cudi also joined in and voiced his disagreement with Kendrick Lamar by saying, “Dear black artists, dont talk down on the black community like you are Gods gift to n***** everywhere.”
Lupe Fiasco it seems had had enough of the attack on Kendrick Lamar so he jumped in to defend Kendrick and tweeted to Kid Cudi, “Shut up…FOH @KidCudi.” He went on to say, “How about you stop shitting on the people who really cared about your well being when this biz was ripping you apart. Fake ass @KidCudi.”
Hopefully these rappers will come back to their senses sooner than later. The fight should be against the injustice in the system, not against each other. It seems like that got lost somewhere. What these rappers are doing is exactly what the powers that be want them to do, tear each other done. After all, if you are busy fighting each other, how will you find time to fight against injustice.
