Rapper Lil Peep has died at the age of 21. The rapper posted a live video online just hours before he died.
The rapper whose songs often speak of drug use and depression died of a drug overdose, according to law enforcement.
“After speaking with people on scene and going into the tour bus, there was evidence of a possible drug overdose. There was no sign of any kind of foul play,” Sgt Pete Dugan of the Tucson Police Department told 18 Karat Reggae.
Lil Peep whose given name is Gustav Åhr, was born and raised in Long Beach, New York. He was found unresponsive by his manager on his tour bus. Just hours prior to being found the rapper said he had taken prescription drugs.
“I’m good, I’m not sick,” the rapper said in the video.
The hip hop community is in mourning and some have paid online tribute to the rapper.
Rapper Diplo tweeted: “Had so much more to do man he was constantly inspiring me”, and fellow producer Marshmello writing: “Peep was the nicest person. Hanging out with him, talking to him about music, the song ideas we were going to do together and touring was so amazing.”
