Last year when Shenseea said she was on the same level as Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj, some people laughed and said her head was getting too big. Well for all the doubters, the Jamaican is now signed to Interscope Records, the same label as Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Sting, Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, and Kendrick Lamar. So even if she is not on the same level as some of the greatest musicians today, she is on the same label as some of the greatest.
Shenseea has already released her first song and video for the label. The song is called Blessed featuring Tyga and produced by Jamaican producer Tarik “Rvssian” Johnston.
While this is definitely the biggest move in Shenseea’s career, she has also done other big moves like last year when she was featured on Christina Aguilera’s album liberation in a song called Right Moves.
On the dancehall scene, the 22-year-old native of St. Mary has also released a fair number of hit songs including Loodi which featured the incarcerated Vybz Kartel.
The signing to a major label has catapulted the young Shenseea to the top of the class of female entertainers out of Jamaica. While many female artistes are fighting over who should replace Lady Saw as the queen of dancehall, the Shen Yeng Anthem singer might be quietly running away with the crown. She will have to contend with an even younger and more talented Koffee, however.
