And The Rap Grammy Goes To….

Iggy Azalea and Macklemore
The Queen and King of Rap.

“This year I’ll probably go to the awards dapper down to watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.” – J. Cole

Tonight is the 57th Grammy Awards, and as always millions will be tuned in to watch rich people give other rich people gold, this isn’t our focus though. Last year we watched Macklemore & Ryan Lewis win the Grammy for best rap album over…… wait for it…… Drake, JAY Z, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye West. Now this isn’t a race issue, hell Drake is Jewish. On pure rapping ability and skill Macklemore did not come close to the other artists he was up against and quite frankly neither did his album.

Now if you win a Grammy in the category of Best Rap Album you would think that your album was listened to and well received by the black community, but Macklemore won for the simple fact that The Recording Academy finally had a face that resembles the person they see in the mirror to vote for in this category. Once again race isn’t the issue, if Eminem won a Grammy over Drake I would believe it to be well deserved, but with Macklemore that is just not the case.

This year nominees for Best Rap Album, isn’t really a tough choice, not to say The Recording Academy chose one superior album and 5 mediocre ones for nomination. This was just a terrible year for the Hip-Hop/Rap world; the heavyweights of the genre were absent this year with no album releases.

Lil Wayne had his album delayed once again; J.Cole and Nicki Minaj released their albums too late to be considered for a nomination. This year the nominations are as follows The New Classic by Iggy Azalea Because, The Internet by Childish Gambino, Nobody’s Smiling by Common, The Marshall Mathers LP2 by Eminem, Oxymoron by Schoolboy Q Blacc and Hollywood by Wiz Khalifa.

History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes. The same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows is the same thing that Elvis did with Rock n Roll’ Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and then Macklemore.
While silly niggas argue over who gonna snatch the crown, look around my nigga, white people have snatched the sound.
