It has been three days since the Jamaican police indicated that Tommy Lee is wanted for questioning in relation to a shooting in Kingston, Jamaica. At press time, the controversial DJ still has not turned himself in. The police is giving Tommy Lee until July 4th to turn himself in.
Hopefully it is some kind of mistake and everything will sort itself out. At the same time, one has to wonder why the Spartan and his attorney has not gone in as yet to clear his name. Of course he be just waiting until the last minute. One thing is for sure, word travel fat=st in Jamaica and the dancehall community in general, so Tommy Lee has to know that he is wanted by police.
Dancehall fans are hoping that Tommy Lee does not end up like his former mentor Vybz Kartel and get convicted of a crime. Kartel is currently serving a life sentence for murder. If there is one thing dancehall don’t need, is another one of its starts behind prison walls.
This is not the first time Tommy Lee has been in too close for comfort contact with the law.
Last year, he was barred from performing on Reggae Sumfest and anywhere in St. James, Trelawny, Westmoreland and Hanover. At the time, the police Tommy Lee Sparta’s name was linked to violence in Flankers, an area on the outskirts of Montego Bay and surrounding communities.
