Usain Bolt will have a long wait before seeing his favorite dancehall artist, Vybz Karetel in the streets again. According to Vybz Kartel’s attorney, the appeal process for the convicted murderer as yet to begin.
Vybz Kartel along with fellow entertainer, Shaw Storm and another man were convicted for murdering Clive “Lizard” Williams in st. Andrews, Jamaica three years ago.
Kartel’s attorneys filed a notice of intent to appeal immediately after the conviction but the process has been slow and dragging.
The lead attorney Tom Tavares Finson, indicated that the transcript of the trial is incomplete, which is needed for the process to get underway.
Tavares Finson said a small portion of the very lengthy transcript is still to be done, although it was estimated that the document would have been ready from about July of this year.
The attorney said he has written to Chief Justice, Zaila McCalla, on the matter, and is hoping to have some good words from the stenographers’ department within the Supreme Court early in the New Year.
Meanwhile track king, Usain Bolt, continues to support, promote and calls for the release of Kartel. The six-time gold medallist made his appeal in support of fellow Jamaican Vybz Kartel over the microphone at a packed gig in the island’s capital Kingston. Bolt, 29, was filmed paying a DJ thousands of Jamaican dollars to play just Kartel’s music at the party at Uptown Mondays.
