The 57th annual Grammy Awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. While Reggae fans don’t deem the Reggae Grammy Award as being important since they hardly nominate the best reggae albums, much less select the best reggae album for the award, some of us still watch the ceremony.
Tonight the nomination for the best award will be:

Sly & Robbie featuring Spicy Chocolate – The Reggae Power
Ziggy Marley – Fly Rasta
Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry – Back on The Controls
Sean Paul – Full Frequency
Shaggy – Out of Many, One Music
SOJA – Amid the noise and the Haste

We will see tonight who will bring home the Award. One thing is for sure, when it is all said and done artists like The Marley Brothers, Sean Paul and Shaggy would have won way more awards than the true greats like Beres Hammond, Sizzla, Capleton and Freddie McGregor. These true greats are in great company though, Bob Marley, Peter tosh and Dennis Brown have never won any Grammy Awards either.

Also on the hip hop side, Macklemore has won more Grammys than Tupac, Nas and Biggie combined. Shows up much the Grammy is worth in terms of true talent.
