Lady Saw goes back to Dancehall.

Former queen of the dancehall, Lady Saw, who baptized and became a Christian in 2015, has gone back to Dancehall. She is not in it enough to regain her crown as queen of the genre but her new album, His Grace, contains Dancehall, Mento and even Country.

Although she is still Marion Hall, she found it hard to just abandon the genre of music that brought her fame and fortune, so on her second gospel album she went back to what originally brought her game and fortune.

“After listening to it, I realized I needed something like Dancehall on it. I looked to God for help and came up with a song called Tun Back Christian. A lot of people are in the church but don’t know how to be content, and end up walking away from God. A lot of church folks, instead of encouraging them they chastise them, which doesn’t help the situation,” Hall told a Jamaican tabloid.

The album has 17 tracks and Hall is expecting that most of the song will be hits.

“Out of the 17 tracks, I’m predicting 15 hits. It’s a praise and worship album with Dancehall, mento; God give mi country gospel too. I’m just excited to have another album out soon. I’m not even going to get ahead of myself but I know this album has the potential to get a Grammy,” Hall continued.

Of course receiving a Grammy might be impossible because Ziggy Marley has an album out this year. Everyone knows that although Ziggy is a less than average reggae artiste, the Marleys always win the Grammy when they release an album.

Hall will be performing on Jamaica Fun in the Son at National Heroes’ Park in Kingston next Saturday and she will also embark on a three-year ‘Soul Seekers Kingdom’ tour across the United States starting in early August.

She might have become a Christian but she is still the Hall in dancehall; big up Marion Hall.
