One dance by Drake is no longer the number one song in the nation. Sean Paul’s cheap thrills, a combination with Australian singer Sia knocked Drake off the top spot this week. This is the first time in ten years that Sean Paul has been in the number one spot on billboard.
There is a huge argument in the dancehall community on whether Vybz Kartel or Beenie Man is the king of dancehall. When it comes to sales, however, there is no argument, Sean Paul is the king by far. The only artist who comes close to Sean Paul is Shaggy.
Sean Paul hit the number one spot previously with Temperature in 2006; and Get Busy and Baby Boy (with Beyonce) in 2003.
Other Jamaican billboard chart toppers are OMI with cheerleader, Karl Douglas with Kung Fu fighting, Ini Kamoze with here comes the hot stepper and Shaggy with it wasn’t me.
