The fans of dancehall king, Vybz Kartel, are waking up to some very sad news. The deejay was left in a coma after being beaten while returning from dinner at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Facility, a top security prison in Jamaica.
According to inmates, the deejay was walking down a corridor when he was pounced upon by fellow inmates and beaten badly before the warders could come to his rescue.
Kartel was rushed to the University of the West Indies hospital where he is now in the Intensive Care Unit.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security Dionne McIntosh said that she was informed of Kartel’s transfer to the University of the West Indies Hospital but was not certain of what caused the deejay’s injuries.
“I know he was transferred to the UWI hospital with severe head injuries and I am awaiting the official report on how he sustained his injuries,” McIntosh told 18 KARAT REGGAE this morning.
Stay tuned to 18 Karat Reggae as we will bring you more details throughout the day as we continue to investigate this developing story.
