Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz did not leave their hotel on Monday for a scheduled 7:00 pm (9:00 pm Jamaica time) training session at the Stubhub Centre here.

It was not immediately clear why the Reggae Boyz did not report to the bus for the team’s first full training session ahead of their opening CONCACAF Gold Cup Group B game against Costa Rica on Wednesday.

What 18 Karat Reggae can report is that a meeting, involving Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Captain Horace Burrell, General Secretary Raymond Grant, head of delegation Michael Ricketts, head coach Winfried Schaefer, and others, is under way to resolve whatever it is that has led to the Reggae Boyz boycott of the training session.

Though no one is prepared to officially comment on the issue at this time, it is understood that the Reggae Boyz and the JFF hierarchy could be at a stand-off regarding money. This would not be the first time the Reggae Boyz staged a boycott for lack of payment. The last time the Reggae Boyz boycotted, captain Horace Burrell claimed he had to pay them from his own pocket.
