Despite reemerging on the dancehall reggae scene for less than a year, Gully Bop flew passed the incarcerated Vybz Kartel to become the most popular dancehall artist currently. Although Vybz Kartel remains one of the top dancehall lyricist of all time, is incarceration has taken him out of the media spotlight thus opening the door for Gully Bop to take his place.

It seems like almost everyday Gully Bop is in the news or in another viral video. Whether he is having a minor surgery, involved in a car accident, missing his dental appointment or just kissing on his supposedly pregnant fiance Miss Chin, the media and the fans just can’t seem to get enough of the Gully Bop.

Vybz Kartel continues to make hit songs even while behind bars, but because he is not able to do any interviews or live performances, his popularity can’t rival that of Gully Bop aka County Man. From the depths of the gully to the heights of Jamaica’s reggae and dancehall stages, there seems to be no stop for the meteoric rise of Gully Bop and his rags to riches story.

His manager Isaiah Laing of Supreme Promotions told 18 Karat Reggae that, “Selctors are playing more Gull Bop than any other artists. He is getting more radio rotation than any other artists. Promoters and producers are requesting him more than any other artists. This is not a fad, Gully Bop is real and he is here to stay.”

Recently Gully Bop even got to rub shoulders with the greatest songwriter Jamaica has ever known in Sizzla Kalonji.
