Junior Gong and Stephen Marley have put in their rehearsal and both are ready to put on on great performances at the Bob Marley birthday anniversary this Saturday. A slew of top notch reggae artists are on the lineup and all prepared to pay tribute to the king.

The tribute is called “Redemption Live” and will see performances by the Marley sons, Tessanne Chin, Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths, I-Octane, Capleton, Cocoa Tea, Freddie McGregor and Tarrus Riley among others.

The event will take place on the waterfront in downtown, Kingston and is being sponsored by Digicel. The event will also be streamed live by Digicel.

“Bob Marley’s life and journey continue to inspire millions across the world”, said Kamal Powell, senior sponsorship and development manager at Digicel. “Streaming the concert live will allow persons from across the world who are unable to attend to share in the experience and pay their tributes to Bob Marley.”

The Bob Marley foundation was very pleased with the line up of artists and also give praise to Digicel for their support in keeping the Bob Marley legacy alive in Jamaica.

‘We are very happy to be partnering with Digicel to bring this celebration of the Honourable Robert Nesta Marley’s musical legacy to the people at no charge. We have no doubt that this show will be a memorable one in Bob’s 70th year, and so we invite everyone to join us on Kingston’s waterfront as we celebrate together in One Love,” said Marie Bruce, general manager of the Bob Marley Foundation.

Digicel will also be participating in the birthday celebrations of Bob Marley tomorrow at the Bob Marley Museum, where Minister of Youth and Culture Lisa Hanna is scheduled to appear.

The Bob Marley celebrations will culminate with the annual ‘One Love’ Bob Marley football competition, where masters and celebrities will face off on Ash Wednesday, February 18, at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.
