Over the years, Wild 94.1, a radio station in the Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area of Florida has continue to show love to dancehall reggae music. While they have never featured a pure reggae act, the show has always had dancehall performers. From Tami Chin, to Elephant Man, to Gyptian, to Sean Paul, to Vegas, to Tanto Metro and Devonte.

This year will be no different as the “Boombastic” Shaggy will be performing on the show on March 7, at Coachman Park in Clearwater, Florida.

Since the show attracts mostly hip hop fans, it is understandable why the promoters choose to book dancehall artists instead of straight up reggae. It would have been great if they had booked Chronixx or Protoje this year. Nonetheless, Jamaicans and other Caribbean people living in the Tampa Bay area should show love and support to this show if possible. In a time when the theme “dancehall is dead” is constantly being echoed, it is great to see a show of this magnitude showing the genre love year after year.
