Will Africa and Her Decendants Be A Permanent Underclass?
In the early age of the history of man, Akebu-Lan (Africa) was the beacon on the hill; the light of the world and the glory of the earth. Her knowledge, discoveries and inventions are the basis and foundation of all modern developed nations. Now fast forward to the twenty-first century and it’s not obvious that was so. No other people on the face of the earth have endure the utter violence African people have endured. Any other people would have been long extinct.
During these centuries of hardship and sufferation many great leaders have since risen. The greatest to date is Marcus Garvey of Kingston Jamaica. There are many others who have risen and are well-known but the majority of the real heroes who prayed, sing, labored and give their lives for our freedom are unsung. Now after a devastating history of systematic targeting to limit our growth our fate is seemingly sealed economically and politically.
As a people we are grossly divided. Jamaicans will not unite with Haitians. Virgin Islanders will not unite with Trinidadians. African-Americans will not unite with the Caribbean people. Africans will not unite with African-Americans or the West Indians. I could go on and on but you got the picture. However, this is not because we don’t want to; it is because we have become very different and independent of each other. We lack the main elements that are necessary for unity. Culture and language are absolutely vital to community development and nation building; so because we don’t share these two components on such a wide range, our unity is virtually impossible.
Still there are many who refuse to give up, many are still standing and making strides, we saw a brilliant display of courage and sincerity in Jesse Williams at the BET 2016 Awards, still it’s not enough to stop the mass incarceration of black people, it’s not enough to stop the blatant killing of black men and women, it’s not enough to stop the rape of African resources that strengthen the very peoples that strangles us.
If we could somehow find the will to respect one another for what we have become and use our differences as strength then we have a chance. On the other hand if we continually grudge and try to dominate each other, then our doom is inevitable!
