Vybz Kartel, the controversial artiste who is currently serving life imprisonment for murder was tonight nominated for five Youth View Awards (YVA).

The categories for which the entertainer has been nominated are:

1. Favourite Local Chart Topping Song

2. Favourite Local Artiste of the Year

3. Favourite Dancehall Artiste

4. Hottest Summer Song of the Year “Miami Vice”

5. Favourite Musical Collaboration

I am not sure if these nominations say more about the state of Jamaica or the greatness of Vybz Kartel.  What I am sure of though, is that a convicted murderer is running the dancehall music scene even from behind bars,

The YVA are promoted by the company An Elegant Affair and nominations are mainly based on Internet page views and responses via social media.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was sentenced on April 3, 2014 for the August 16, 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
