Popular DJ and promoter of the Best of the Best concert, Jabba, have thrown some harsh words at dancehall artist Dexta Daps that have reggae fans wondering if Dexta Daps is gay.
Jabba who is seemingly still angry at the Shabba Madda Pot singer for disrupting last month’s staging of the Best of the Best concert referred to the singer as less than a real man.
“I just want the fans to know that if this man wasn’t being a diva, this would not have happened,” Jabba said.
Normally these types of insults are only used when two artists are in a lyrical clash. In the dictionary, the following are the two different meanings for the word diva:
Diva – A highly distinguished female singer; prima donna.
Diva – A male transvestite; esp., a homosexual cross-dresser; drag queen.
Jabba did not elaborate if he meant diva as in the first meaning above or the second meaning but either one is equally insulting.
So the question is, does Jabba not know the meaning of the word “diva” and is using it wrongfully? Or does he fully understand the word but is deliberately trying to insult and berate Dexta Daps. The promoter did ban Dexta Daps from ever performing at Best of the Best again, so we know there is no love lost between the two.
This all stems from Dexta Daps not performing at his allotted time which in turn caused the show to be shut down early and Mavado not getting a chance to perform. Dexta Daps would not leave his hotel until he was paid in full to perform and he also claimed that Jabba owed him money for a previous show that he did. Jabba says that Dexta know how the business operate and was wrong for holding out at his hotel.
“I don’t give out money at the hotel; I do that at the venue. Why didn’t his manager come to the venue? I will never book him for another event, never ever. He could be the hottest artiste in America. A nuff things mi help dem youth deh with and dem ungrateful … I don’t want to see them, and they need to reach out to the fans and tell them the truth,” he said.
