Veteran Reggae diva Sister Nancy’s classic dancehall hit ‘Bam Bam’ has been remade by Kat Deluna and Trey Songz.

The song was recently released by Global Music Brand & Entertainment One and its accompanying music video has been viewed close to three million times since being uploaded in June. In the song, Trey Songz also borrows lines from Shaggy’s popular Billboard hit record It Wasn’t Me, which featured Rick Rock.

Kat Deluna, who has collaborated with Elephant Man in the past, recently told 18 Karat Reggae that Sister Nancy is an innovator.

“It’s a classic record. Sister Nancy is one of the innovators from reggae and the old reggae era from back in the day. I love old-school music, because I am an old soul,” she said.

But this is not the first time that Sister Nancy has banked royalties as a result of the usage of the song. Late last year, Bam Bam was featured on the soundtrack of controversial US movie, The Interview, which stars Seth Rogen and James Franco.

Prior to that Bam Bam was also sampled by American rapper Too Short for his controversial single called Blowjob Betty in 1993. Guerilla Black, another American rapper, also sampled Bam Bam in 2004 for his hit effort called Compton.

Sister Nancy’s timeless song was initially released in 1982 and first broke into the hip-hop market when it was featured on the soundtrack of American film ‘Belly’. The success of Bam Bam later spread to electronic arts and was selected as part of a supporting music package in the video game Skate.

Labelled as a reggae anthem by the BBC, internationally acclaimed shoe company Reebok also used Bam Bam as the soundtrack for their Skyscape sneaker commercial in 2014, starred by international model Miranda Kerr.

Sister Nancy recently performed in California where she advised her fans to give thanks for small blessings while performing Bam Bam.

“There are a lot of people who would like to be here, but they are not here, so we have to be grateful because we are here. If you know that jah is keeping you what are you worried about,” she said.
