Carlos Santana who has been in the music since, well, let’s just say before Beyonce was born, thinks he knows who is and who is not a singer; at least a singer, singer. In Santana’s mind, Beyonce is song a singer, singer. Maybe she is a singer, rapper or a DJ, singer.
“With all respect to our sister Beyonce, Beyonce is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modelling kind of music – music to model a dress – she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her.”
Santana’s comment was in response to some fans who feel like Beyonce was robbed of the album of the year award at the Grammys on Sunday. He disagrees that Beyonce was robbed and believe that Adele deserves the award based on singing ability. “Adele can sing, Beyonce is not a singer,” he says.
Carlos Santana has since stepped back on his comments and is now saying that what he said is not really what he meant or it was taken out of context. The entertainer posted the following apology on Facebook:
I would like to clarify a comment that was reported when I was doing an interview for some upcoming shows in Australia & New Zealand. My intent was to congratulate Adele on her amazing night at the Grammies. My comment about Beyonce was regretfully taken out of context. I have the utmost respect for her as an artist and a person. She deserves all the accolades that come her way. I wish Beyonce and her family all the best.
Well, Mr. Santana better hope the Beehive accepts his explanation. The last thing anyone needs is the Beehive swarming down on them when they feel like the Queen Bee has been done wrong.
