Can Climate Change Affect Marijuana?

The global climate change, also known as a global warming is harmful for us and it is affecting our lives, the places where we live and the food production and consumption. There are many elements of individual society and also the environment which are sensitive to climate changeability such as: human health, agriculture, natural ecosystems, coastal areas, heating and cooling. Climate factors that are directly joined in climate change and agricultural productivity are: average temperature increase, change in rainfall amount and patterns, rising atmospheric concentrations of CO2, pollution levels such as tropospheric ozone, change in climatic variability and extreme events.

All of these factors can destroy our marijuana plant. Also the global climate change is affecting the water more exactly on the quantity, variability, timing, form, and intensity of precipitation. Global climate change is affecting the weather: rising up average temperatures that construct a more changeable climate system. So, from here we can expect some weather changes such as: wind and dust storms, some other storms with extreme rain or snow, heat waves, droughts and so on. This can stop the growing weed outside; ok we can plant it indoors or in big greenhouses. Those changes can affect our fields with plants or some other agriculture stuff, it will destroy it. There are many consequences that climate change is affecting the weed such as: less water for irrigation because of earlier high river flows and decreasing soil moisture, in some places it is going to rain too much even when we don’t need it in other places it will be opposite, the water and the weather will be polluted, changing growing season. The temperature and the rainfall changes caused by climate change probably will interact with atmospheric gases, fertilizers, insects, plant pathogens, weeds, and the soil’s organic matter to produce unexpected responses.

Could a Hotter Climate Lead to Stronger Marijuana?

We hope that under these conditions which are not only ideal for cannabis but also may produce stronger marijuana overall. The main ingredient in marijuana is Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is produced by the plant as a pest repellent. Because of this, the more stress the plant endures, the more THC it will eventually produce.

Could Hemp Help Alleviate Climate Change?

The hemp plant may be the solution to solving this epidemic due to its versatility as fuel. Hemp seed oil is well suited for conversion into biomass to biofuel which can be a solution to gasoline in the future. This hemp fuel undergoes complete combustion with oxygen and produces very little ash or sulfur. The world without a dependence on gasoline would reduce CO2 emissions drastically along with saving money for consumers at the pump.

In general, of course climate change will affect the growth of marijuana—as it will affect all of the agriculture on this planet. But still we are not sure if this is real or not, it will be laughable in 20 years, Till than you have enough time to enjoy and grow weed.
