“Protege” takes on the Jamaican Government in “Blood Money”
Protégé’s newest single Blood Money is on the path of being one of the most well-written songs in Reggae’s recent history. The Rasta Revolutionary figure uses his musical platform to advocate for those victimized without justice in his native land, Jamaica.
Blood Money speaks truth to power; an outright call for action on the part of the nation’s ministry of national security. It spoke to socio-economic inequalities and systemic oppression in a very profound rhythmic and lyrical manner. Blood Money essentially explains why the government has failed to act thus far … special interests that conflicts with their mandate to serve and protect its citizens.
