Dancehall Artist “Alkaline” Wanted for questioning in Murder Investigation

Some very perplexing reports have it that Dancehall Artist, Alkaline could be in serious legal troubles. It’s seems like Deja Vu…a repeat of Dancehall Star Vybz Kartel’s dilemma?

Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Communications Arm, in a recent press release indicated that Alkaline whose real name is Earlan Bartley is a person of interest in the murder investigation of one Rohan Morris; to that end,  detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch Headquarters are actively trying to make contact with the artist.

The statement stated further that “It is believed that he can assist them with the investigations,”

The direction is that Alkaline report to the Area 4 Headquarters, Harman Barracks in Vineyard Town, Kingston 2 by 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 8.

The press release did not provide much detail on the actual murder itself. Neither does it address the relationship between the named victim and the artist. It’s impossible not to draw parallels between Alkaline’s current situation and Vybz Kartel’s situation that landed him in prison on a life sentence though. It’s fair to say they are quite similar in their musical styles: very controversial lyrics and image, to state the obvious.

Kartel was also at the top of the game prior to his demise and it’s fair to say he still is. In 2016 Alkaline practically dominated the industrial with hit singles  such as Formula,  City, My side of the Story and Extra Lesson. His new album titled New Level Unlocked produced by popular producer DJ Frass is being dubbed one of the best of 2016…NOW THIS

No one knows for sure how deeply involved (if at all) Alkaline is but it sure is fascinating to watch. There’s something to be said about gaining too much power, too fast and acquiring a sense of entitlement and Invincibility. As usual 18 Karat Reggaé will stay on this story and provide ongoing updates of this deboco. Stay Tuned…
