It was July 7 when Tommy Lee Sparta turned himself in to the Montego Bay police after he was given a deadline of midday on that date to report to them for questioning. Here we are in August and the deejay is still in lockup even though there has been no charges filed against him.
The sad thing about this situation is that Tommy Lee can afford good legal representation, so if he can be held for so long with no charges, imagine the poor ghetto youths who cannot afford to hire a lawyer. Anyway, that’s a discussion for another day.
The police are now tweeting that their arresting of Tommy Lee is reaping good fruits as they step up their fight against crimes not only in Montego Bay but all over the entire island.
According to a posting on Twitter by the police, the Spartan Angel artist was taken to St. Andrews last week and several apartments which he has connections to were searched. As a result of these searches, 10 men with connections to the Downtown Sparta Gang were arrested.
The police did not mention what role, if any, the artiste, whose given name is Leroy Russell, played in the searches.
The police said as they continue their investigation, a lot more arrests should be expected in the coming days and weeks as they try to reduce crimes by targeting gangs.
