The Mavado saga has just gotten very interested. A deadline for the deejay to turn himself into the police for questioning has passed without the deejay showing up to answer any questions.
Mavado’s attorney, Camika Harrison, claims that the police should have known that Mavado had left the island even before they listed him as wanted for questioning because the information was available at the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA).
Mavado is wanted for questioning in regard to an incident where someone allegedly shot at the deejay. It is said that the deejay escaped and reported the incident to the police. After the story broke in the media, Mavado got on his Instagram and said they were spreading rumors on him, although he was not specific about the rumors. The deejay’s attorney is now confirming basically everything the media has been reporting, however.
“He is very surprised the police are asking for him in that manner, when he was the one who reported that he was shot at… He’s a law-abiding citizen and intends to cooperate with them. He has nothing to do with what is happening in Cassava Piece,” Harrison told 18 Karat Reggae.
There has been a recent spate of murders in the Cassava Piece community. On Saturday three murders were committed there, while on Tuesday, 23-year-old Lorenza Thomas was shot, chopped and set ablaze by unknown assailants.
Police report that last Saturday Mavado and an individual had an argument around 11:30 am. The person left the scene and returned with a group of men, one of whom fired gunshots at the entertainer who escaped injury. The matter was reported to the Constant Spring Police Station and an individual is being held in connection with the incident.
Harrison shared why the police are interested in Mavado.
“Five men were detained at his Norbrook property… and there is a possibility one of them may be charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, and it’s only a possibility,” she said.
Mavado was one of the top dancehall artistes of the last decade with hit songs like Real McKoy and Am so special. He also had a famous lyrical feud with Vybz Kartel who is now in prison on a murder conviction.
