A whopping 95% of Blacks in the Western hemisphere belong to one of the many Christian denominations. That’s a staggering number. One has to wonder, however, why is this number so high?
As a people, we should not be afraid to ask ourselves tough questions. Our path to upward growth and progressiveness lies in the tough questions we ask ourselves and the answers we find deep within. We should be asking questions like; if the Europeans never invaded Africa, would so many Blacks still be Christians?
What if it were the Chinese who set out to colonize the world and brought Blacks to the West to slave on plantations? Would Blacks today be Buddhists instead of Christians? That is something to think about.
What if the Arabs were the original pilgrims who landed on Plymouth Rock? What if it were Arabs who invaded Africa and brought Blacks to the west to slave on plantations, would the majority of Blacks in the West be Muslims instead of Christians? Would 99% of Blacks in the United States belong to the Nation of Islam?
If we answer yes to the questions above then we are simple worshiping the masters’ god. The problem is, they are not our masters; we are free people. So why haven’t Blacks returned to the African Religions that we had before colonialism? Were those religions too primitive? Or do we really believe that Christianity is the one and true religion? Is that’s what we think, then we should thank the white man for invading Africa and introducing us to the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
If the invasion of Africa and Blacks being forcefully bought and brought to the West are the only reasons why the majority of Blacks are Christians, then is the Black Christian really free?
