“Bars could not hold me.. Force could not control me” – Bob Marley
Those words are from the king of reggae, but they seem to be ringing true for the self proclaimed hero of the dancehall.
Vybz Kartel has been locked behind bars for almost four years and for all those years he has either won or got nominated for the best dancehall artist in the male category.
Competing with Vybz Kartel for the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) are Demarco, Popcaan and Stylo G. Based on quantity and quality of songs released, Vybz Kartel could easily win the award this year. Half Pint once song that “the whole wide world is one big ghetto” but Vybz Kartel is making it look like “the whole wide world is one big gaza”.
While Vybz Kartel should be congratulated, the must question must be asked, why is dancehall in such a sad state, that it takes a man locked behind bars to be running the place. Yes, Bybz Kartel is very talented, but evidently, there is a severe lack of talent in dancehall right now.
What do you think is the reason Vybz Kartel continues to be the leading dancehall artist even after being locked away for so long?
Vybz Kartel aka Worl’ Boss is the real boss and di real KING OF THE DANCEHALL
