Two weeks ago, attorneys for Vybz Kartel sounded real optimistic that a verdict on the world boss’ appeal case would have been released by now. There were even some super fans that were also wishing and hoping that the deejay would be a surprise guest on Reggae Sumfest.

Unfortunately the week has come to an end and the 3 Judges Tribunal in charge of Kartel’s appeal case did not render a verdict. As attorney Tom Tavares-Finson mentioned two weeks ago, today is when the judges go on break and they will not be returning until October. This means that Kartel will have to wait until October or after to know his fate.

It is now a year since attorneys for KArtel submitted his case to the appeal court. Most subject matter experts on appeals in Jamaica thought that a verdict would have been reached by now. The fact that it is taking so long does not bode well for Kartel. If the judges thought that an innocent man was locked behind bars, they would have been more urgent in rendering a decision.

So for all the dancehall fans who were hoping for a surprise performance from Kartel at Reggae Sumfest, it will not be happening.
