For marijuana lovers around the United States, it is very important that a democrat is voted into the presidency comes November. With Bernie Sanders out of the race, love or hate Hillary, it behooves you to rally behind her, vote for her and encourage others to vote for her.

Silly voters vote for people, intelligent voters vote for issues. For the lovers of marijuana, legalization is the major issue of 2016. Republicans have made it clear that marijuana legalization is not on their agenda. In fact, Chris Christie who is on Donald Trump’s VP short list made it clear that marijuana will never be legalized if he is in office. not only will it not be legal nationally, but he would enforce the federal laws against marijuana to the fullest extent. This means that even if you are living in a state where the her is legal like Colorado, you would still face prosecution if caught with marijuana.

The Democrats on the other hand are officially speaking up in favor of removing marijuana from the list of Class 1 controlled substances and providing a “reasoned pathway” to legalization.

On Saturday afternoon, the committee first discussed an amendment to remove marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act. But some worried that would have hurt state efforts to study the legalization of marijuana. So then committee members agreed to switch out the language with another amendment that called for the downgrading of marijuana.

Because of conflicting laws concerning marijuana, both on the federal and state levels, we encourage the federal government to remove marijuana from its list as a Class 1 Federal Controlled Substance, providing a reasoned pathway for future legalization.
