Fans of Vybz Kartel are not taking lightly, Lisa Hanna’s suggestion that Karte’s music be banned from all public radio. Some of fans have gotten so irate that they are sending death threats to Miss Hanna on social media.
The irony of the death threats is that it prove exactly what Miss Hanna was saying in the first place and that is, Vybz Kartel and his music have a very negative influence in Jamaica.
Head of the Cybercrimes Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Inspector Warren Williams is warning persons that it is a criminal offence to make threats on social media.
Speaking about Vybz Kartel on Nationwide 90 FM yesterday, Hanna questioned whether corruption is involved in the recording of songs by the incarcerated artiste.
Asked whether the music of convicted persons should be banned from the electronic media, Hanna responded, “… I am prepared to have that discussion [with a view of] coming to a decision that says, ‘in the best interest of our country, we have to identify what rules are rules and what privileges are privileges.’ If you are convicted, perhaps it is [that] your music needs not be played on the radio,” Hanna said.
Since then, some social media users have issued death threats and have promised to withdraw their political support.
