On Tuesday afternoon Mobile County sheriff’s deputies arrested a former Faith Academy teacher accused of having sex with a student, according to authorities.
According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old Christina Busby was no longer working at Faith Academy when authorities arrested her Tuesday.
Deputies launched an investigation into Busby after receiving a tip on the MCSO crime tips page on Aug. 22, said MCSO spokeswoman Lori Myles.
Detectives said Busby had sexual contact with a 17-year-old boy in Wilmer on at least two occasions. The student’s mother discovered the relationship when she uncovered inappropriate text messages, deputies said.
Both incidents occurred in March, Myles said. The teenager was not Busby’s student at time but was attending Faith Academy.
Deputies booked Busby into Mobile County Metro Jail just after 2:30 p.m. on two counts of being a school employee and engaging in a sexual act with a student under 19 years old.
Jail records showed she has no known prior arrests.
She was expected to appear before a District Court judge for a bond hearing on Aug. 27.
