“If we were made in his image then call us by our names
Most intellects do not believe in god, but they fear us just the same” – Erykah Badhu

People with higher IQ are less likely to believe in God, according to a new study.

Well, excuse me, just save me a seat on the short bus and ship me off to remedial math and science for the mentally challenged. I prefer to love and accept JAH with the “dummies” than to hate and doubt him with the “intellects”. A songwriter once said “if loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right”. Well if loving JAH is dunce, I don’t want to be bright.

Now that I got that out of the way, here are some statistics from a recent study by Richard Lynn a professor of psychology at Ulster University in the United Kingdom. According to Lynn, A decline in religious observance over the last century was directly linked to a rise in average intelligence.

A survey of Royal Society fellows found that only 3.3 percent believed in God – at a time when 68.5 percent of the general UK population described themselves as believers.

A separate poll in the 90s found only seven per cent of members of the American National Academy of Sciences believed in God.

Most primary school children believed in God, but as they entered adolescence and their intelligence increased, many started to have doubts.

Religious belief had declined across 137 developed nations in the 20th century at the same time as people became more intelligent.
Many more members of the “intellectual elite” considered themselves atheists than the national average.

Am I shocked by what this survey / study concluded? Not at all, on countless occasions, I have seen comments like “God is for the feeble and simple minded”. So I have always known that there are people out there who believe they are too smart to believe in God, choosing instead to give the credit of intelligent design to random happenings. One thing I heard as a child and I will say it as an adult, “only fools say in their hearts, there is no God.”

I am not here saying that my idea of God has not changed since my days in primary school. Sure it has, but to doubt God to me is just ridiculous. So while the intellects let themselves feel like they posses some superior intelligence because they don’t believe in God, I will play Mr. T, “I pity the fool”.
