All the hype around “To Tanesha” the new album by Vybz Kartel is turning out to be just that, hype, but not a lot of sales or streams to back it up. The album has disappointed tremendously and failed to make it on unto the Reggae Music chart.

In contrast to Vybz Kartel, Bob Marley who has been dead for almost 40 years has two albums on the chart this week. Legend is number one on the chart while Gold sits at number seven.

Also on the chart is “Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic collections” sitting at number two and “Dutty Classics collections” by Sean Paul at number three.

Rapture by Koffee is the only other Jamaican album on the chart sitting at number eight.

The rest of the chart is filled out by foreign bands and artists such as Slightly Stoopid, Stick Figure, Rebelution, UB40 and Burna Boy.

So while there is all this talk about Vybz Kartel being at the top of dancehall even from behind bars, it is just talk. If anything, it is fair to say Koffee is at the top of dancehall right now. Her 5 song EP, Rapture, was released in March of 2019, it debuted at number one on the chart and almost a year later, it remains in the top ten.
