Dancehall has lost one of its great icons of the 1980s. Hartley Anthony Wallace known in the Dancehall community as Pad Anthony passed away this past Saturday after suffering various health issues over the years.
Pad Anthony was one of the major artistes of the 1980s along with other greats such as Half Pint, Tenor Saw, Nitty Gritty and Micheal “Lickshot” Palmer.
Pad Anthony dominated the sound systems scene with songs like Ah Murder and Shake Dem Down. His dubs are also known for killing many sounds in the clash arena.
Tribute to the artiste were all over social media this pass weekend as fans remembered his great songs as well as his humble personality.

“Pad Anthony was one of the most humble and generous artists I ever met. Always with a smile, he loved the soundsystem culture so much and was always happy to help soundboys with great dubplates at modest prices,” said one fan.
“He didn’t voice only for money but for his love for the game and the importance he gave to selectors in their role to spread Jamaican music. A great person and artist gone too soon. My condolences to his wife and children. #padanthony,” he added.
