Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes, made a fortune but knows what it’s like to be lower-middle class. He literally stated, “I CAUGHT A LUCKY BREAK that 99 percent of people won’t”.
He is proposing that Americans who make less than $50,000 per year should get a quarantined government stipend of $500 per month to offset inflation. This stipend he believes will take average people out of the rut.
He is proposing that this plan can be funded by raising taxes on the wealthy 1 percent like himself and other Facebook executives.
He goes on to explain that such a plan is necessary because of the growing digital economy. He states in his book Fair Shot: that Rethinking Inequality and How We Earn that “I don’t have a crystal ball on exactly where technology is headed. But I do think that it’s going to continue to destroy work.”
