2019 will be a great year for dancehall reggae. Dancehall living legend Buju Banton is free and according to attorneys, the self-proclaimed “King of the Dancehall” Vybz Kartel will also be freed in early 2019.

Rapper, Jay Z, said if it was up to him Vybz Kartel would have been freed before Buju Banton. Sorry Jay Z.

There is no denying that while both Buju Banton and Kartel Kartel were locked up, there was a bi void left in dancehall. Now that Buju is free there is no doubt that the void will be filled quickly.

Gaza fans are adamant in their belief that Vybz Kartel could do a better job returning dancehall to the glory days of the 90s than Buju can. The problem with their belief is that, Buju was a major part of dancehall’s 90s glory days, Kartel was not.

Based on the reception that Buju has gotten from not just in Jamaica but all over the world, it is safe to say Bubu Banton means more to dancehall music of the two.
