Ace deejay Vybz Kartel is requesting to be moved to a hospital ward or isolated in prison because of the coronavirus.
Valerie-Neita Roberston who is the attorney for the world boss says that her client his concerned about his health and vulnerability to COVD-19.
“I am very concerned about him and other inmates who have medical conditions and I don’t believe the authorities are dealing with it appropriately because we have too many instances where there are these types of outbreaks and they don’t do what they need to do,” Robertson said. “I would think they could even place them on a hospital ward and isolate them and take extra precautions.”
Vybz Kartel was rushed to the hospital numerous times since his incarceration and there have been rumors that he has kidney issues. The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that people with underlying issues with their heart, lungs and kidneys are more susceptible to COVD-19.
While prisons in Jamaica have stopped visitors from coming to look for inmates and are also testing new prisoners for the disease, Kartel’s attorney does not believe that is enough.
“I am assuming visits have been stopped now but food is still coming in, and the virus can live on plastic for hours and they can’t spray the food,” Neita-Robertson said. “So I really don’t know what they are going to do but something needs to be done.”
Vybz Kartel is serving a life sentence for the killing of Clive Lizard Williams.
