The Black man’s job towards the Black woman should be helping her to be the best she can be in every way possible. That might not be happening, at least from Serena Williams’ point of view.

Under every circumstances the Black man should be the Black woman’s number one protector, provider and up lifter. The Black man should do everything in his power to make sure the Black woman reaches the highest of heights possible.

In the case of Serena Williams it took a white man to help the tennis legend shine the way she has always wanted to shine and she is not holding back while telling her story.

The 37-year-old says despite the numerous Black men she dated, even though they did not mistreat her, none of them made an effort to increase her shine but instead they tried to dim her light. It was not until she found her white husband, Alexis Ohanian; she was able to shine even brighter than she thought was possible.

“Not to knock anyone else I was with before, because they were all mostly amazing, but I know now I can be selfish, have a great career, and a great partner, someone that believes in me,” Serena Williams said.

“Alexis doesn’t dim my light. He doesn’t try to dim my light. He puts me in the light, even if I don’t want to be. He pushes me to further points I never thought about,” she continued.

Serena Williams’s comments should be taken seriously by every Black man. The black man must do some soul searching and make sure that he is allowing the Black woman to shine and not dimming her light. And it is not only with wives or girlfriends, but in every relationship, whether it is a sister, aunt, daughter, mother, niece or friend, the black man must go to the extreme to make sure the Black woman shines bright like a diamond.
