Another entertainer signed to Joe Bogdanovich’s DownSound Records has left the label. It seems like Joe knows how to attract entertainers to the label but not how to keep them attached to the label.
First it was Foota Hype who left the label after the much publicized breakup between him and his baby mama Ishawna who is also signed to DownSound Records. Just last year, Specialist either left or was booted from the label. Now the original Don Gorgon, Dancehall clash king Ninja Man has parted ways with DownSound Records.
While Bogdanovich acknowledged to 18 Karat Reggae that the label and Ninja Man has parted ways, he refused to divulge any information about the reason for Ninja Man’s departure. Calls to Ninja Man went unanswered.
Rumors on the street is that Ninja Man no longer has the brand new car he had just a few months ago as it had to be returned to the label. The artist is said to have resorted back to borrowing his daughter’s car.
A few years ago, Joe Bogdanovich mentioned that it was his intention to grow DownSound Records into the largest reggae and dancehall label in Jamaica but it has become more like a revolving door with artists coming in and out. The label still has Ishawna, Don Husky, Nature and producer Skatta Burrell signed to it.
Ninja Man who is currently facing a murder charge is out on bail. It is widely believed that DownSound Records was footing the bill for his defense. It will be interesting to see how things play out in the coming months.
