This summer Ras Slick is truly sizzlin! And Reggae music lovers worldwide couldn’t be happier over his long awaited “Your Love”/”Hold on Me” video, which premieres today on 18KaratReggae! The popular Reggae singer proves that genuinely good music has no expiration date. A neatly meshed combo of “Your Love” (from Ras Slick’s “Help” EP) and the song’s remix “Hold on Me” (featuring Jah Cure), the captivating A-Roll Productions-directed video showcases the ups and downs of love through a series of engaging scenes. “Hold on Me,” which was initially released last year, scored with fans, DJs, radio and a host of media outlets. In response to the resonating success and appeal of “Hold on Me,” now, a great song has an even greater video to accompany it.
The trailer of the steamy video captured online and social media attention a few months ago, generating thousands of views on the site. “I know that the fans are going to absolutely love the full video,” says an eager Ras Slick. “They thoroughly enjoyed the teaser, so I am sure the complete video will wow viewers….in addition to this being a nice Reggae song, the video tells a story familiar to so many.” The moving video zooms in on relationship conquests, showing how a couple’s love went from good to bad overnight. The video’s cinematic approach is well in tune with the song’s theme.
Ras Slick has to be one of the hardest working entertainers in the business. Along with his band, Dutty Bus Crew, Ras Slick has taken over the East Coast’s entertainment scene with performances a minimum of 4 nights each week. In fact, the video’s performance scene was shot at the hip Maryland venue Society Lounge, where Ras Slick performs regularly at “Reggae Tuesdays.” The videos other scenes were filmed through out the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Ras Slick is also a hit at music festivals, lighting up the stage with sets chock-full of incredible vocals dancing, instrument playing and unforgettable mash ups of many music genre.
In addition to the video’s release creating a stir, Ras Slick is also reveling in the overwhelming response to recent Roots heavy songs “Cannabis Specialist” and “Humanity,” both produced by Tim Dub. As if Ras Slick’s summer couldn’t get hotter, the singer balances making music and live performances with operating his new full-service “My Time” recording studio.”
