The son of Buju Banton, Markus Myrie, is not a fan of how some Jamaicans treat artistes as if they are gods, heroes of perfect.
The reggae dancehall producer took to social media to voice his displeasure in a video that has since gone viral. Markus’ rant seems to be stemming from the scolding he got from the fans of Buju Banton after an altercation between the father and son was made public by Markus last month.
Many fans came to Buju’s defense and were very harsh on Markus as they felt like the disagreement was a family matter that should not have been aired out in public. These are the fans who Markus is addressing in the video.
“Apart from [being] mi father, him a human being. Him a nuh god. An mi a human being an mi nuh perfect. So all you Jamaicans and all you people wha love gwaan like artiste a hero… A want a artiste murder one a your family member and see if you still worship them like hero,” Markus said on the video.
The video does show a level of immaturity in Markus as the choice of words is just not what a mature person would say.
Saying you want an artiste to murder someone, even if you are just proving a point, is not something to say; especially considering that there are multiple artistes that are either serving life sentences for murder or waiting court date on murder charges.
